There are a lot of bands trying to make it big in Nashville but none as entertaining as Farewell Fighter. The quartet hails from all across the county but have united in the city of rock and roll to make a pop-punk fused with power-pop. In the past year, they’ve played Warped Tour, sold 6,000 records, drove 60,000 miles, and were named Alternative Press’s top unsigned band. Undebatable is their musicianship; umatched is their commitment to having fun with it. Read on to see for yourself. Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Kenny Fleetwood - Lead vocals / Guitar
Lee Morton - Lead guitar / vocals
David Jahns - Bass
Matt Hooper - Drums

Where are you all from?
The band is based in Nashville, Tennessee but we’re all from different parts of the country. Kenny is from Riverton, Wyoming, Hooper is from Dallas, Texas and David is from Chicago, Illinois. Lee is the only one actually from Nashville. You can usually tell that from his extensive collection of NASCAR shirts.

How did the band come together? How long has it been?
Kenny: In 2008 I was living in Montana playing in a band similar to Farewell Fighter. Unfortunately, MySpace died that year so we reached a bit of a plateau. The band broke up that summer and I moved to across the country to Nashville to live with my sister who was going through a bit of a rough patch. I posted an ad on Craigslist to find some like-minded characters to make music with and found Lee almost immediately. Hooper and David joined later. We’ve had this lineup for 2 years and it’s the perfect fit for us. 

Why should people listen to your band?
Kenny: Our music is a natural aphrodisiac.

How have you grown since you started?
Kenny: When this band started we were writing songs that were like a mixture of Coheed & Cambria and Something Corporate. I think as we’ve gotten closer to each other as friends and gone through some shit, our music has naturally become very representative of our endless pursuit of the dream. 

What sets you apart from other bands in the scene?
Kenny: We know all the words to “Baby Got Back”
David: Our lack of straightened hair and the fact that we’re too cheap to buy ourselves on to a national tour.  

What’s the best part about being in your band?
Kenny: First of all, I’d like it to be noted that I don’t get paid enough to lie in my response to this question. That said, my favorite part of this band is the fans. I’m never as stoked to be in this band as when someone says they were touched by a lyric from one of our songs.
David: Being able to have an influence on people in the world and see it first hand. There’s honestly no greater feeling.
